A fairly new player to the self kiosk family is the self-tagging luggage kiosks cropping up at major airports. On a recent trip departing from LAX (Los Angeles International Airport), we checked in the conventional way through one of the convenient self kiosks instead of standing in the check in line. The kiosk was a bit different; in addition to the checking in and boarding pass printing functionalities, it also printed the luggage tag sticker for you! This allowed us to tag our own luggage and simply drop them off at the counter. Of course, there was still an attendant available overseeing the kiosks in case anyone needed help. This was a tremendous time saver. Think a maximum of five counter attendants versus ten self-service kiosks. Once again, self kiosks are proving to be a game changer in many different fields.
